THE BLADE SLICED THROUGH the last plant, freeing the vehicle from the confines of the field behind the house. Lucas folded the blade and tucked it back into his pocket before turning to Jessi.

“Alright, it’s free!” he said, a smile on his face.

“What about the bullet holes?” she asked.

“I brought some duct tape that’ll work for those,” Martin responded, reaching into his toolbox. One by one, he began patching up the holes in the side of the vehicle. When the last one was covered, the group took a few steps back and admired the finished vehicle.

“Well... it still looks like shit, but it’ll get us to Mexico,” Jessi said.

“Mexico!? What the hell are you going to Mexico for?” Martin asked, turning to her.

“I’m meeting Alejandro there,” Jessi answered.

“Well shit—if you’re going to Mexico, I’m coming with you. Who knows what might happen to this thing’s engine on the way there,” Martin said. The group got inside, Martin at the wheel. Turning the keys in the engine again, the motor sprung to life and allowed them to take off.

Getting on a southbound highway, Martin continued driving the RV towards their destination. Jessi sat down next to him, a GPS device in her hand. Punching in the coordinates that Alejandro had given her, she found that it would be about a thirty-hour drive.

“Well, better make yourselves comfortable,” Martin began.

“What’s up?” Lucas asked, walking over from the living area. He glanced down at the GPS, seeing the estimated travel time.

“You still sure about going?” Martin asked.

“We need to build this Rebellion. If Jessi thinks that starts with Alejandro, we’re getting Alejandro,” Lucas answered.

“Alright, to Puebla, then,” Martin responded, looking back at the road and continuing south. Lucas proceeded back into the bedroom of the motorhome, pulling the Murphy bed out from the wall. Laying down at it, he stared at the ceiling for a moment. Growing bored, his eyes shifted to a window. As he watched the trees pass by, Lucas slowly managed to drift to sleep.
